What can I make with my own two hands?
I fell in love with metalsmithing because it never stops offering new possibilities. One day I'm patiently sawing a tiny copper frog out of sheet metal. The next I'm forging silver into flowing curves, weaving miles of copper wire around a glowing stone, or experimenting with textures that make metal look almost alive.
I don't believe every artist needs to stay in one lane. My workshop is a place to play, to learn, and to see where curiosity leads.
Some pieces are whimsical. Some are sculptural. Some are quiet and elegant.
They're all made slowly, one at a time, most with simple hand tools, plenty of patience, and an appreciation for the beautiful imperfections that come with handmade work.
If something I create makes you smile, sparks your imagination, or becomes a piece you reach for again and again, then I've done exactly what I hoped.

At Knotty Hippo Designs, metal isn't just shaped, it's explored.
Every piece begins with raw metal, wire, or stone and evolves by hand through sawing, forging, hammering, wrapping, texturing, soldering, and finishing. Some become playful little creatures. Others become modern geometric forms or organic sculptural jewelry.
No two pieces follow exactly the same path.
Some make you laugh.
Some catch the light.
Some simply feel good in your hands.
They're united by curiosity, craftsmanship, and the belief that jewelry should have personality.

Some of my favorite pieces begin with someone saying, “I have this weird idea…”
If you have a creature, symbol, stone, story, or half-formed idea you'd love to turn into jewelry, I'd be happy to explore it with you. Commissions are collaborative, handmade, and designed especially for you.
Because everything is made by hand, I can't promise an exact replica of another piece, and some ideas may need a little creative problem-solving to work beautifully in metal. That's part of the fun.
